Xmas Fun Fact Friday

Here we go:

* Animal Crackers were imported to the US, from England, in the late 1800’s. Barnum’s circus boxes were designed with a string so that they could be hung on a Christmas tree.

* Christmas trees are edible!!!!  The needles are a good source of vitamin C.

* 1.76 Billion candy canes are produced during the Christmas Season.

* Ok….THIS IS MY FAVORITE:

One notable Medieval English Christmas celebration featured a giant 165 pound pie. The giant pie was 9 feet in diameter. Its ingredients included 2 bushels of flour, 20 pounds of butter, 4 geese, 2 rabbits, 4 wild ducks, 2 woodcocks, 6 snipes, 4 partridges, 2 neats’ tongues, 2 curlews, 6 pigeons and 7 blackbirds………(OMG!)

Thanks for reading.

    in comparison to that 165 lb. pie, a mini pie-maker is sounding delightfully sinless right about now….
